Since I began my tenure at AALS last July, I have sought to find ways to better connect our members to AALS and to one another, and to amplify the many accomplishments of our member schools, faculty, administrators, staff, and deans. This redesigned newsletter, which we have named AALS LENS, is part of that effort.
LENS is an acronym for Legal Education News and Stories. You can expect a rolling stream of original articles, contributor stories, organizational updates, news highlights, and more. We also look forward to bringing you stories in a wider variety of digital formats. It replaces the printed quarterly newsletter, AALS News. The online format will allow us to share content more frequently and without the delays inherent in traditional print publishing, with the goal of being much more responsive to current events.
Our launch of this resource comes at time of great uncertainty for law and higher education. As President Parrish and I have written, it is a time for unity among lawyers and legal educators to defend and advance the rule of law. As together we meet these challenges and opportunities, you can count on AALS to provide the resources and support you need — wherever you are in your career as teachers, scholars, staff and administrators.
We look forward to growing and developing AALS LENS and hope that you will find it a valuable source for news and stories that are interesting and matter to you. We will appreciate your participation and input as, together, we celebrate our 125th Anniversary and create the tools that will serve us well in the future.
Best,
Kellye Y. Testy, Executive Director and CEO
