Michael Hunter Schwartz (Professor of Law, University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law) has been a presenter at the AALS Workshop for New Law School Teachers for over ten years. A nationally respected educator and co-author of What the Best Law Teachers Do (2013), Professor Schwartz provides valuable guidance and advice to new law faculty as they step into the classroom.
At the 2025 workshop, he sat down to answer our questions about new sessions at the meeting and getting started as a law teacher. He also reflected on his return to full-time teaching after twelve years serving in leadership positions, which included deanships at University of Arkansas at Little Rock, William H. Bowen School of Law and University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, as well as Interim Provost at University of the Pacific.
