The William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is Nevada’s only law school. Boyd School of Law is recognized for its top-tier legal education and deep commitment to community service. Established in 1998, Boyd School of Law has quickly built a reputation, particularly for its Lawyering Process program and its Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution. Boyd School of Law is a public institution that provides a collaborative, student-centered environment that offers both full-time and part-time J.D. programs, as well as its notable LL.M. in Gaming Law and Regulation. Integrated closely with the Nevada legal and judicial communities, Boyd School of Law emphasizes experiential learning through robust clinical programs, externships, and a unique community service graduation requirement.

Since 2024, the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV has offered an intensive comparative gaming law course titled “Comparative Gaming Law – Asia Study Tour.” Led by Boyd School of Law Dean Leah Chan Grinvald, Chief Compliance Officer and Regulatory Counsel at Resorts World Las Vegas, and Adjunct Professor Jennifer Roberts, the exclusive program limits enrollment to 18 J.D. and LL.M. students. Over a three-week trip spanning Singapore, Macau, and Japan, students explore and analyze the legal and regulatory frameworks governing gambling activities in these distinct jurisdictions. The itinerary blends pre-departure lectures at the law school with intensive in-country field trips in which students meet with local law firms, casino operators, technology providers, and regulatory bodies. The course provides a deep historical and cultural context for gambling in Asia, allowing students to directly contrast these highly complex markets with those in the United States.
“Legal education at Boyd Law extends far beyond the borders of Nevada,” said Leah Chan Grinvald, Dean of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law. “Through the Asia Study Tour, we connect our students directly with global industry leaders, innovators, and international law firms. This intensive, once-in-a-lifetime experience challenges students to contrast the United States market with highly complex Asian markets, while gaining a profound appreciation for the rich cultural history that shapes international gaming law and regulation.”
