Southern University Law Center is committed to expanding access, student success, and experiential legal education through several impactful programs and initiatives. SULC combines academic preparation, professional development, and practical training to equip students to become effective advocates, ethical leaders, and practice-ready attorneys through initiatives, such as its Pre-Law Program, Bar Preparation Support, and clinical programs. These programs help guide SULC students from the beginning to the end of their law school journey. It starts with SULC’s Pre-Law Program, which prepares aspiring law students for the rigor of legal education through academic readiness, mentorship, and pipeline development opportunities that support diverse and nontraditional students pursuing legal careers. It continues with SULC’s clinical education program, which provides students with hands-on legal experience while serving the community. SULC law students conclude their legal education experience with comprehensive bar preparation support focused on maximizing student success on the bar exam. SULC offers structured academic support, bar-readiness programming, workshops, individualized coaching, and preparation resources, beginning before graduation and continuing through the bar examination period.

“At Southern University Law Center, we remain deeply committed to developing students who are prepared to serve with excellence, integrity, and purpose”, said Alvin R. Washington, Dean of Southern University Law Center. “This year, we are focused on expanding innovative programs, strengthening student success initiatives, and creating supportive bar prep programming. We are also creating transformative opportunities that prepare our students to lead in an evolving legal profession.”
